I am a post-doctoral fellow at the Data Science Institute, Columbia University, working with Prof. David M. Blei and Prof. Simon Tavaré.

I got my PhD in Statistics from The University of Texas at Austin. I was fortunate to learn and work with my advisor Prof. Mingyuan Zhou. Before coming to UT, I spent four years as undergraduate at the School of Mathematical Sciences in Fudan University, Shanghai.

My thesis focused on the variational methods with dependence structures, by designing fast and accurate algorithms, and analyzing their theoretical properties. In general, I am interested in:

  • Approximate Bayesian inference
  • Causal inference
  • Information theory, asymptotics
  • Meta-learning and domain adaptation
  • Cancer research
